Entropy isn't the best measure of password complexity, but I think it can show you how secure it can be. Believe it or not 12 characters is pretty dang secure if it's random. The new passwords are meant to be more readable. Hi! Yes, 1Password updated their algorithm to auto-suggest passwords that are random between 12 and 14 characters. This new format is perfect it's long enough, unique, and easy to type in.

You're more likely to end up in a credential stuffing attack than someone guessing the password so uniqueness is the most important thing.

When you do the math any password over 12 characters long is not going to be cracked in any of our lifetimes. Far too many people are turning password length into a pissing contest and the only person they're hurting is themselves when the time comes to manually enter that password. When it comes to passwords the most important thing you can do is use unique ones. When I got home I quickly changed the password to the new format as its way easier to deal with if I ever run into this situation again. I actually ran into a situation today where I had the old 20 characters long random gibberish password they used to auto-generate and had to manually type it in and it was so annoying. It fits more website requirements and it's easy to type in if you need to. We'll always be marked by an official flair, and will always love both 1Password and you.
